The Button indexes
All Publications - available from Westley Button, PO Box 540, Gisborne VIC 3437

Marion Button did a huge amount of work indexing early Melbourne newspapers (Missing persons, passenger arrivals), courts, gaol, lunatic asylums, shipping, electoral rolls, mostly relating to early Melbourne.  The Button Index is a consolidation of these aforesaid indexes, though it doesn't contain the full amount of data - once you find a name on the Button Index, you have to go back to the original index for the full reference - but it is an invaluable research aid for those investigating Victorian family history.  You are likely to find things on the Button Index that you had never considered looking for on individual indexes.

Marion sadly died last year, but her husband Westley is still processing orders.

The Button Index is priced at about $55 and can be ordered direct from:

Westley Button,
PO Box 540,
