"The Convict Stockade" is an interactive site for researchers of Australian convicts and the transportation system that landed them on the Australian shores.

The content of the Wiki component of the site consists of lists of arrivals on the convict ships and includes details of the convictions. This part of the site is multi-level and includes family details and biographical information about the convicts and their families. Lists are regularly being added to the site and the eventual aim is to list as many of the convicts transported to Australia as possible. Members of the site will be able to upload details of their own convicts using preformatted templates and will be able to add their own contact details to their convict ancestors so that they can be contacted by researchers who also have family connections to the same ancestors. In keepingwith the philosophy of the HistoryAustralia and IFHAA sites THERE IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE A CHARGE FOR USING THIS SITE.

The Convict Stockade will be officially launched at 3.30 pm on Saturday 6 September 2008 during the Sussex Street Neighbourhood House Family History Open Day. In order to access the pages when they are launched you will need to click on "Cedric the Convict" (just to the left of this text). He will be the link through to the site during the launch period. After the launch a link will be available directly from the HistoryAustralia front page.

Other areas of the Convict Stockade site include Photo Galleries, File Downloads, Live Chat, Forums, Community Friendship Networks, Articles, Links Directory, FAQ's, Quizzes, Newsletters, Mailing Lists and more.

Join us on-line in te Chat Room for the launch and find out just how this site will be able to benefit you in your research efforts.
